Morgan for KY Senate 2020
Pick Wesley Morgan over Mitch McConnell for Republican Senator

Kentucky U.S. Senator

C. Wesley Morgan

In 1950, Clinton Wesley Morgan was born and raised in Hyden, Kentucky, located in rural Leslie County in Eastern Kentucky. There, he grew up with a house full of sisters and parents who owned their own small business and came from a family of coal miners. After graduating from Leslie County High School in 1968, Wesley attended Cumberland College, now University of the Cumberlands, in Williamsburg, Kentucky. There, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in political science and history in 1972. In 1974, he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Eastern Kentucky University.

From 1974-1975, Wesley worked as a staff accountant for a CPA firm. From 1975-1979, he worked for the Department of Treasury as an Internal Revenue Service agent and auditor/criminal investigator. During that time, he served as the wagering enforcement coordinator for Southern Ohio, which led to the prosecution of several individuals for operating illegal gambling operations without paying the excise tax.

In 1979, Wesley transitioned to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, where he served as a criminal investigator. During that time, he coordinated several prosecutions involving the illegal sale and manufacturing of fully automatic machine guns, homemade rocket launchers, and hand grenades. He also worked on major arson and explosives investigations and served on secret service protection details for Senator Teddy Kennedy, Vice President Mondale, and other public figures.

In 1982, Wesley decided to leave criminal investigation behind him and move back home to Kentucky. He settled in Richmond, Madison County, Kentucky, and decided to follow in his parents’ footsteps by opening his own business. Since that time, Wesley has owned and operated numerous retail companies throughout the state of Kentucky. During that time, he designed custom retail software, which is used in approximately 500 retail outlets throughout the country. In 2017, Wesley was named the national retailer of the year by the National Beverage Association.

In November 2016, Wesley became the first Republican in fifty-years to hold the office of State Representative for the 81st House District in Kentucky. During his tenure, he served on the Judiciary Committee; the Licensing, Occupations, and Administrative Regulations Committee; the Economic Development and Workforce Investment Committee, and the Elections, Constitutional Amendments, and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee. Wesley’s voting record shows that he worked to create additional economic growth; protect our Second Amendment rights; advocate for the abolishment of the state income tax; combat Kentucky’s drug epidemic; fight for the unborn; protect our law enforcement and first responders at all costs, and promote education at all levels. During his time in Frankfort, Wesley was endorsed by and received an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association; endorsed by the National Association for Gun Rights; and received the 2017 Conservative Achievement Award from the American Conservative Union Foundation. Also in 2017, Wesley was invited to speak at the National Conference of State Liquor Administrators in Denver, Colorado.

Based on principle, Wesley called for the resignation of Kentucky House Speaker Jeff Hoover, and all other members involved a secret sexual harassment settlement involving a young, legislative staffer. Due to his adherence to his values and refusal to participate in the “good ole boys” system fueled by establishment Republicans within the state, the Republican Party of Kentucky recruited a primary challenger to defeat Wesley in his bid for reelection. Now, Wesley seeks to take on the establishment – and their leader, Mitch McConnell, in 2020.

Wesley is the husband of Lindsey Morgan (Webster) and proud father of two daughters, Jordan (30) and Sydney (12). They are members of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Richmond. Wesley, Lindsey, and Jordan are all EKU alumni, and Sydney is homeschooled. Wesley believes that a solid family unit, Christian values, a strong work ethic, focused education, and adherence to constitutional principles are all essential to prosperity.
